Prominent business tycoon Rafique M. Habib has passed away aged 88, Habib University said on Wednesday.
“With profound sorrow, Habib University mourns the passing of its founding chancellor, Rafiq M. Habib (1937-2025), and honours his enduring legacy,” Habib University said in a post on Instagram.
Rafiq was the former head of the House of Habib conglomerate, chancellor of Habib University, and a member of Stile’s board of directors. He was also the chairman of the Habib University Foundation.
He was a “trustee of several welfare projects that cover a wide range of activities, including education, healthcare, relief and rehabilitation”, the varsity said.
